How to Dress For Your Senior Session

When you are planning your dream senior session, you want to look your best! But one question I often get is how do I choose my outfits?! You may not know, but when you book your senior session with me I send you a style guide tailored to selecting outfits for your senior session!

I always recommend bringing multiple outfits (if your session time allows) so that we can really showcase all of the facets of your personality and style! If you have 2 outfits, it is a great idea to have 1 dressier outfit, and 1 more casual outfit. Depending on which session length you book, we may have time for more than 2 outfits! In that case, plan on 1 dressy outfit, and come up with a mixture for the remaining outfits.

Layering is one of the most fun things you can do when choosing your senior session outfits! Laying with textures and colors adds dimension to your images and makes for great posing variety! Jackets, cardigans, hats, cute shoes, and even chunky jewelry can add so much to your photos!

Solid colors help feature your face, but adding in a little pattern can really give your images a pop! When choosing patterns, larger patterns will typically photograph better. Additionally, you don’t want to have too much noise in your image A solid bottom with a patterned top (or vice versa) adds dimension without being overwhelming or distracting.

Finally, wear clothing that you feel good in! If you feel self conscious or uncomfortable in your outfit, that will likely show in your final images. We will be walking and moving around, and you need to be able to comfortably move!

I have so many more tips that I send you in my senior style guide once you book your session! And if you have additional questions I LOVE when my seniors send me outfit options or even bring multiple outfits to the session and we can choose together once you get there!
